Jacarilla has a history dating back to the sixth century BC, when the Iberian peninsula at the site of the present Jacarilla companies were established. The name Jacarilla owes its origin in medieval songs about the exploits of knights in the war against the marauding Moors. Originally called the settlement Sakariskera, which means the place where the river ends. Then it is through Topónimo, Xacariella and finally to Hacarilla to Jacarilla evoluated village in the Vega Baja, near the ancient Bishop City of Orihuela. Most inhabitants live traditionally the proceeds of surrounding citrus groves.
